Daily Diaries

I made flight arrangements to go home! I’ll be back in the land of wheat fields for a visit in just a week!

Today, I’m ending my week-of-little-posting with a bit of a summary of what’s been going on! Soon you’ll see what all the time in hiding and sporadic posting has been all about, but I’m not going to give it away quite yet! (Oh, the suspense!)

Anyway, here’s my week in summary form!

Monday: My first day coming home to an empty house. It was definitely strange to not have D around in the evening. Pretty sure I ate popcorn for dinner. Why cook if it’s only me?

Tuesday: Snapped out of it. I watched the premiere of the Bachelorette with Megan after work and now I am so excited to see how this season turns out! I cancelled my internet at home as I don’t have a computer there right now and had just been using D’s. Thank goodness for spare time at work for important things like blogging! Ok, and ya know, doing TFA work and stuff.

Wednesday: Quietest day of work…ever. But I came home and cooked myself a good dinner and did some painting. It’s nice to have some quiet me time to just relax!

Thursday: Definitely not quiet at work. We were super busy and it was all I could do to come home and not go straight to bed. I got some packing done and cleared out part of my living room. Moving this time is going to be a bigger task than I originally thought. Time to start getting rid of stuff! I still went to bed early though- sometimes I’m 83 years old and need my sleep!

Friday: Today’s been pretty normal at work so far! I had a great conversation with Ms. Linda, the housekeeping lady. She’s become such a good friend and mentor to me in my time here. I’m going to be sad to not see her everyday!

We’re heading into a 3-day weekend around these parts and I am MORE than ready for some outside time and packing and getting rid of everything I don’t need anymore.

You know it’s busy when…

Daily Diaries

You know it’s a busy day at work when it’s Friday at 2pm before you realize and all of a sudden you haven’t edited that post you wanted to publish this morning and there’s really only time to take a bit of a work break before getting back to business getting ready for this event Monday and run on sentences are all you can handle.

In that light, instead of what I had planned I’m going to link up with Kate for her Daily Diaries link up! Daily Diaries is a link up where bloggers can take some time to let readers a little further into their day-to-day lives.

Let me break it down:

Monday– Normal day at work, but in the evening I went out with my girls to celebrate a friend’s successes. I love being able to watch as my friends grow and do such great and wonderful things with their lives.

Tuesday– I studied and did quite a bit of my TFA pre-work. Some reflections and realizations hit me harder than I thought they would while reading these articles!

Wednesday–  I received a mini facial kit from Rebekah and Rodan and Fields. Holy moly, it was wonderful. My face feels AMAZING still. Consider me hooked!

I wrote about success and felt good on the last day of April. Then got a call from my Ugandan mom. Hearing her say she’s proud of me is definitely a feeling of success and joy.

Thursday– D came and had lunch with me at work before heading off to start his day at work. Even though we live together, our work schedules are so opposite that we don’t see each other too much. These lunch dates are nice for us to have a chance to catch up!

Banana Republic was having a huge sale so my friend Megan and I stopped by over there on our way home from work. Exciting times, y’all.

Friday– Today has been a crazy day at work, as evidenced by the sentence at the top of this post. We have a huge event coming up on Monday for the seniors of Atlanta so everyone’s been running around, making calls, and doing paperwork. In addition to our regular every day tasks. Our maintenance men are hard at work setting up tables and everything. It takes a village.

I’m getting my nails done tonight though so all is well.

Coming up this weekend– NO EXAM this Saturday! WOO! Let me do a happy dance real quick for that one! Instead, Saturday I’m getting my make up done by a woman that works here at City Hall and has a make up and jewelry business on the side. She needs photos of people to show to potential clients so, oh darn, I have to pretend I’m a model! haha it should be fun.

Saturday night I picked up a babysitting job till midnight so Sunday will probably be spent catching up on sleep and relaxation and enjoying the weather.

That about does it!

Daily Diaries [a link-up]

Daily Diaries

Today I’m linking up with Kate to give a little recap of this week’s events. As Kate explains, sometimes as bloggers we don’t share as much of our daily happenings on our blogs, and sometimes it’s fun to get some insight as to how we all spend our lives in the world away from our blogs.

Monday: Work FLEW by! I don’t know how it happened but I wasn’t complaining! Not a bad deal for a Monday!

Tuesday: The full moon claimed a few victims and City Hall was busy with people and phone calls. Plus I read over 200 pages of material for my licensure exam this weekend. Woo it was tiring!

Wednesday: I restarted P90X3. Yep! I had pretty much failed when I went to Chicago because after I came back I didn’t do a single workout. So my punishment is going right back to the beginning and trying again at day 1. Now I’m even more determined though. Plus, now I’m doing it paradromic to D which makes it easier because he can push me to do my best! 90 days and there should be some big changes!

Thursday: Work went by slowly and by lunch I was SO hungry. Like I-Could-Eat-A-Horse hungry. Plus, allergies had my eyes burning and I was one hot mess. However, after work I went home and changed and got ready for date night with D! We don’t go out as often as we probably should so it’s a big deal for us. We had so much fun out together that I completely forgot to take any pictures for the blog. Oops, sorry!

Friday: Today I’ve spent my morning studying for my exam tomorrow, and will probably just keep going on this throughout the day. I’m so nervous for tomorrow but I know at this point there isn’t a lot I can do but try!

This weekend I have the first of my 2 SpEd licensure exams, so I’ll be there for 6 hours and then probably collapsing into an exhausted ball on my bed for the rest of the day. Sunday will be Easter with time spent D and friends enjoying a relaxing day with lots of food. Yum.

Today’s word is paradromic, meaning adjacent or side by side.

Daily Diaries…Ish.

Today I’m linking up with Kate from Diaries of an Essex Girl to give a little recap of the past week and what I’ve been up to! I’d love to hear about what’s been going on in the day-to-day lives of you all if you want to link up as well!

This has been an exciting week in my life so I’m happy that this is the week Kate decided to introduce this idea!

Monday: Oh, Monday. I started off my day by slipping and falling in the shower. Oops. With a sprained ankle and a bruised up back, I hobbled into work and thankfully got through the day without any other mishaps. I made my way to the chiropractor after work and he realigned my back- I had majorly thrown it off in my fall. Thank goodness for doctors! I meant to start P90X3 this day, but I knew that wouldn’t have been a good idea on my ankle.

Mr. Greg my friend and maintenance man took some pity on me and set up the fountain in front of my desk to make me feel better as he saw me limping around. It’s so nice to have it up and running all day!

Tuesday: I got my official invite to a TFA interview day in Chicago next month, meaning I passed the first of my certification tests to be a Special Education teacher! This was super exciting and I began taking the first of 3 mini-classes that I need to have finished by April 10th.

Work-wise, there a town hall meeting for one of the council members that had me standing and greeting community members most of the night. It was actually pretty fun, despite my ankle wanting to cry from being on it so long. I came home exhausted and went straight to bed.

Wednesday: Booked my plane flight and confirmed my attendance for a couple days in Chicago. It’s going to be so fun! Of course I’m a bit nervous for the interviews (about 6 or 7 in one day!) but I feel confident that I can be an excellent teacher for children who need it most. My sweet Mama also had surgery this day, and thankfully it all went well and she will be recovering soon! Plus, my older sister was able to take off work to visit and take care of her for a couple weeks, so I know they will enjoy some time together.

I came home to a clean apartment (thanks D!) and a purring cat so it was a great start to the evening.

I finally started P90X3! I modified some of the exercises that required jumping because my ankle was still weak, but even so it kicked my booty! It was actually a lot of fun though and I am excited for the next 3 months to see how my body feels.

Thursday: I wore one of my favorite work dresses and finished my classes for TFA! Woo! There was an event at work that caused the atrium (where my desk is) to be decorated beautifully with flowers and it just made my whole day. Then I went home and let Tony Horton kick me into shape with some P90X3.

Friday: Work has been pretty normal so far! We’ll see how it goes the rest of the day! My friend Dani will be visiting this weekend and I’m excited to show her around Atlanta now that I can walk again without pain!

What have you been up to this week? I wanna know!
